Here is a fun arrangement of the popular Christmas carol, Deck The Halls, which will be ideal for established beginners at about the Grade 2 standard (ABRSM)
The music for Deck The Halls (or originally Deck the Hall) is a traditional 16th century Welsh New Year's Eve carol called Nos Galen, meaning "New Year's Eve". The Scottish poet Thomas Oliphant wrote the English lyrics in 1862.
This jazzy arrangement features swung quavers and chromatic movement in the left hand to accompany the lively melody. Be sure to keep an eye on the staccato articulations at the end of phrases and slurred quavers as this will help with the swing feel.
For those who fancy a good old rousing chorus, lyrics for two verses are included. The sheet music also comes with a performance recording and two play-along backing tracks, one at the marked tempo and the other at a slower practice tempo.
Have fun with the fa la la la la-s !

Another winner! Several GCSE students who are undertaking mock exams have been sight reading this as relaxation therapy. They love playing along to the slower practice backing track which gives a really laid-back vibe.
