Is It Spring? – Jazz Swing – Intermediate (Grade 3)

(1 customer review)

Is It Spring is a jazz swing piano solo in Bb major for intermediate players at about the grade 3 (ABRSM) standard.

Listen to clip:

Is It Spring? is a bubbly little number in Bb major with a cute swing and some cool 'jazz' moments.

The 'middle eight' (the 8 bar 'B' section) has left hand playing a 'walking bass' to accompany the right hand melody. Make sure this accompaniment is played legato and not too loud.

After the 'head' (the whole piece played the first time around) comes a written improvisation - or variation - on the main theme.

Keep this piece light and bouncy, making sure that any end-of-the-bar swung quavers are staccato ("bah-doo-DA"!)

Is It Spring? will suit intermediate pianists at about the Grade 3 (ABRSM) standard.

This is a nice jaunty jazzy piece full of happiness! And I have just the student in mind to play it.
