Enjoy a taste of summer with Strawberry Lane, a jolly piano duet for four hands in the key of F major (juicy strawberry nibbles recommended!)
This piano number swings along gently at about 110 bpm and will suit beginner primo pianists at about the Grade 1 (ABRSM) level.
The quavers in this piece should be swung in a relaxed triplet fashion:
The primo part is played one octave higher than written. To start with, you may like to try hands separately as the melody is played in both hands an octave apart.
Blues notes and chromatic moments feature throughout the piece, and keep an eye out for the staccato markings, as these will help the jazz 'swing' feel.
Strawberry Lane comes with a play-along backing track to accompany the primo player and another to accompany both players. There is also a slower tempo practice backing to accompany just the primo player.
