Description
Get into the Yangtze Groove with this flowing rock duet for established beginner primo players at about the Grade 2 standard (ABRSM).
This rhythmic piece is in D minor and sails along at a groovy 110 bpm with a distinctive 2-in-a-bar feel. The primo player plays the melody an octave higher than written in both hands. This catchy melody is based around a pentatonic minor scale in D minor (D, F, G, A, C) and so has quite a characteristic oriental 'sound'.
The primo part features acciaccatura grace notes (for example in bar 4). These are also called 'crush notes' and are played as quickly as possible before the melody note.
Yangtze Groove comes with funky play-along backing tracks, complete with Chinese guzheng zither (the twangy instrument you can hear in the melody). This sheet music also comes with a slow tempo practice backing for the primo player.
