Description
Get in the groove with Hipster, a fun blues 'boogie woogie' style piano solo in the key of C major, ideal for intermediate level pianists at about the ABRSM Grade 3 standard. This piano sheet music comes complete with a foot-tapping play along backing track.
The left hand provides the classic boogie woogie style quarter pulse rhythm to accompany the right hand's catchy syncopated melody. It's a great idea to keep the left hand nice and light otherwise it can make everything a bit 'muddy'.
As always with swing time, quarter notes (quavers) are swung. Try making the last note of each quarter note group quite short as this will help with the swing feel. Have a listen to the performance track - a good example is the first four note group of the right hand.
With plenty of dynamics and accents to keep you on your toes, Hipster is a really fun piece to play with the MP3 backing track. First check that you can play the piece all the way through securely, and then try the slow tempo practice backing to get used to the idea. When you're feeling ready for the up-tempo backing track, then go for it!

Thanks for tracking this piece down for me! I knew it by another name and I couldn’t find it, so I sent the composer an email, and guess what…Hipster used to be another title and I was desperate to give credit on my piano recital…I finally gave up and emailed the composer and he sent me the new title!
