Description

Modern Piano Sheet MusicOn 21 February 1804, The Pen-y-Darren engine hauled 10 tons of iron, 5 wagons and 70 men along the Merthyr Tydfil Tramroad from Penydarren to Abercynon in Wales (UK), a distance of nearly 10 miles.

Locomotive is a pop style piano piece dedicated to that moment - the world's first steam powered locomotive designed by Richard Trevithick. This is a fun and catchy piece suited to intermediate pianists of Grade 3 standard and is in the key of F major.

The left hand plays a bouncy octave accompaniment to the right hand's melody line. Watch out for the dynamics and keep the left hand notes fairly short (staccato).

Have fun with 'Locomotive' and steam along nicely now!
