Right As Rain – Pop Calypso – Intermediate (Grade 3)

Description

Make a splash with Right As Rain, an up-tempo pop calypso for intermediate pianists at the Grade 3 (ABRSM) standard.

This piano sheet music is in the key of G major and goes at quite a pace (crotchet = 192bpm)... but as always with a new piece, start practising it slowly and gradually build up the tempo as you get more confident.

Once you've got the basic rhythms under your fingers, try playing along with the the slow-tempo backing track, which comes with the sheet music. Then once you have got the hang of that, try the full tempo backing - it's great fun to play along with!

Syncopated rhythms feature throughout this sheet music in a 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2 pattern (try saying this quickly with emphasis on the 1s and you'll get the idea). A useful exercise you might also like to try is to listen to the performance MP3 track and clap along with the rhythm of the melody.

The end 8 bar section launches into a Latin samba feel with a slight variation on the above rhythm (1-2-1-2-1-2-3 with emphasis on the '1's again).
