Get in the groove with Lost and Found, a funky pop ballad, which comes with a play-along backing track.

This piece features an arpeggio-type accompaniment in the left hand, with the use of the sustain pedal. There is quite a lot of syncopation in this piece, so it will suit an intermediate / advanced pianist of about Grade 4 (ABRSM) standard.

Lost and Found will give you a good 'counting work out', especially during the long sustained chords. Once you have got the hang of playing the piece through, you may find it easier to play with the backing track, as the drums will help to keep time during these phrases.

After the main theme, it's time to get funky with the next section, which involves a unison hands-together 'riff'. Make sure these phrases are played rhythmically and watch out for the accents and short notes.

But there's more!... After the funky unison section, it's time for a little improvisation on the basic chord progression. Don't panic - there is a written solo that you can play. Alternatively, throw caution to the wind and have a go at a right hand improvisation yourself (check out my e-book A Brief Intro to Impro which you might find helpful if you're not familiar with improvisation).

The trick with improvisation is to keep it simple - use just a few notes and concentrate more on the rhythms of your improvisation. In fact, a neat exercise you might want to try (with the backing track) is to stop playing at the improvisation section and clap some made-up rhythms. Again - keep it simple, and don't be afraid to simply repeat your clap rhythms for a few bars.
