Lift your spirits with Shining Star, an exciting pop gospel number, which you can play on it's own, or with the play-along backing track.
The opening melody (sometimes called the 'Head') is based upon a catchy syncopated phrase against the left hand's bass line. The style of this opening section is almost like a Latin bossa nova, but then the chorus shines out with an uplifting a 'pop' gospel refrain.
After the chorus, the middle section modulates to the relative minor and features a smooth left hand arpeggio accompaniment to a thoughtful and delicate melody. We're then back into the 'Head' with a double chorus, finally ending with an atmospheric poco rit.Â
This piece will suit established intermediate pianists of Grade 4 (ABRSM) standard and above, and should be played with joy and energy, especially in the 'chorus' sections. To practice at a slower tempo, check out the practice backing track which also comes with this piano sheet music.
