March Of The Pharaohs is a stately ballad in F major for established beginners at the grade 2 standard (ABRSM).
The left hand moves in fifths providing an andante pace to accompany the right hand's mysterious modal harmony.
The sustain pedal is marked in this piece, but if it is new to you, try using it only in bars 5, 9, 21 and 22 to start with. In these bars, the sustained notes create an impressive 'soundscape', which is well worth savouring.
There is a crescendo as the procession draws closer, finally fading away again to the original melody.
Watch out for the accidentals in this piece, as there are several chromatic moments!
To set the scene, March Of The Pharaohs comes with an atmospheric play-along backing track as well as a slow tempo practice backing.
