Imagine a warm sunny afternoon in a field full of sunflowers with a lilting melody in the air... but try and stay awake until the end of the piece!
Sunflower Serenade is a piano ballad in F major written for intermediate players at about the Grade 4 (ABRSM) standard. Although it should be played as a gentle and relaxing ballad, try also to keep it rhythmic - especially in bar 4 syncopation at the end of the phrase.
This piece is played con Ped. to sustain the left hand's accompanying arpeggio movements and the tempo is at a gentle adagio, 72bpm.
As the opening 4-bar melody is repeated, try experimenting with different dynamics and expression marks to vary your performance.
