This piece is best played with a careful sustain pedal in each bar to 'gel' the left hand's smooth arpeggio accompaniment.
The right hand's simple descending melody sings out above the accompaniment like the beam of a lighthouse lamp shining out into the night.
The middle section of The Lighthouse Keeper modulates to F minor (possibly a storm coming in?), rising in intensity to a fortissimo of descending 6ths in the right hand, which fade away into the night.
