Zigzag Rag is a swing ragtime piece in C major for beginner pianists at about the Grade 1 (ABRSM) standard.
Ragtime gets its name from syncopated - or 'ragged' - rhythms. In this piece, a simple syncopated figure appears several times in both hands, for example in the left hand bar 4. Try clapping this rhythm a few times to become familiar with it before trying the piece!
Eighth note quavers are best played in the swing style, although you can also play them 'straight' as written.
Zigzag Rag comes with its own play-along backing track, which will add a vibrant foot-tapping New Orleans feel to your performance.
