Description

This one here's for all those Piano 'South Paws' out there...

... And for everyone else who is on the lookout for a good left hand blues piano workout!

Introducing South Paw Shuffle, a blues shuffle in the key of D major for established intermediate pianists at the Grade 4 standard and higher.

It's the left hand that 'drives' this piece with a repeated swung quaver 'figure' - however, try to keep it light on its feet. The right hand blues melody features the use of 'blue notes', namely the flattened 7th and flattened 3rd which lend a blue 'crushed note' feel.

Once you've got the hang of playing South Paw Shuffle, I highly recommend playing it with the backing track, which comes with the sheet music. It's great fun! Try the slow tempo backing first and then progress to the full backing track.
